LONDON, 23 JANUARY 2019: Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline today announced that it is upgrading comfort for its passenger while improving sustainability by partnering with ELeather – the pioneer of engineered leather. Under the new partnership, seats on Aeromexico’s aircraft will be reupholstered with ELeather’s luxurious, environmentally-friendly material.
Made from recycled leather, ELeather takes unused traditional leather trimmings diverted from landfill and reconstitutes it with a high-performance textile core to create engineered leather. The material not only provides customers with a comfortable flying experience but is up to five times more durable and can be significantly lighter than normal leather – helping reduce fuel costs and carbon emissions on take-off.
As the leading airline provider in Mexico, Aeromexico services more than 90 destinations in Mexico; North, South and Central America; the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Aeromexico was seeking environmentally-friendly material which also provides customers with a first-class experience. Through its partnership with ELeather, the airline has reupholstered seating on 64 aircraft and has plans to roll this out across its entire fleet in the coming years
