After months of preparation, AIX 2019 ‘flew’ by in the blink of an eye. The show proved to be as popular as ever with over 550 companies exhibiting at the event. The number of vendors, combined with the number of attendees (14,000 in 2018, 2019 numbers still to be announced) demonstrated once again the important role that the aircraft cabin and the space around it, plays in the overall flying experience.

Familiar faces

For ELeather, the show proved to be an overwhelming success. With over 150 airlines already using our materials, AIX provides an excellent opportunity for us to meet with customers and partners to discuss exciting new projects. It was also a pleasure to see so many partners showcasing ELeather on their own stands including Sabeti Wain Aeopspace, ST Aerospace, Mirus Aircraft Seating, Acro Aircraft Seating, Soisa Aircraft Interiors and Haeco.

Our stand

The ELeather stand was once again busy for the duration of the show. It’s always great to give customers, partners and new contacts the opportunity to see our materials up close to feel the different grains combined with our broad range of colours. Watch our video to get a closer look at what we had on show.

Fabric versatility

While ELeather is perhaps best known in the aviation industry for being used on aircraft seats and in airport lounges, trade shows such as AIX 2019 give us the opportunity to showcase some of the other uses of our high-quality materials. Concept designs on our stand included handbags, travel wallets, yoga matt bags and even an ice bucket!

In addition to the concept designs that were on display, there was also a lot of interest in the Nike shoes on our stand. The Nike Flyleather brand uses ELeather materials and has already been making headlines on a global scale, most recently with the release of the iconic ‘Cortez’ shoe.

Helping the good times be-gin

eLeather GinThe ELeather Gin Hour is fast-becoming the place to go to at the end of a busy day at a show. We know that trade shows can be hard work for attendees and exhibitors alike, so it was great to see so many members of our industry join us to unwind over a glass or two of gin. The Gin Hour also provides an opportunity to discuss the latest trends and hot topics of the show. If you didn’t manage to join us this time, look out for us at the next show.

Our Planet

Before the start of the show we talked about some of the latest trends that we’re seeing making waves in the aviation industry here. AIX 2019 gave us the opportunity to check-in on these and many more. The focus on sustainability was once again noticeable.

The latest hit Netflix series perhaps isn’t what you’d expect the aviation industry to be discussing on the floor of a trade show however David Attenborough’s ‘Our Planet’, which looks at the impact of climate change, is clearly very relevant to the aviation industry. When we consider the rise of eco-retreats and ‘responsible travellers’ it’s no surprise that sustainability was a hot topic at AIX 2019. Many visitors to our stand recognised that ‘responsible travellers’ would not welcome a cabin furnished in unsustainable materials.
